THE BROOKWOODS Country Club 2101 Country Club Lane, Ontario, NY
Thanks to our dedicated season pass holders and to the general public “The Brookwoods” had its most successful year to date. Because of your support we are heading into the future with the attitude that “The Brookwoods” will continue to grow toward a position of strength.

With this positive attitude in mind, Mike Lawler, has generously agreed to significantly upgrade Buz’s equipment to help improve the overall course conditions. The golf course will always be our #1 priority and Mike intends to keep The Brookwoods, as rated by the Rochester Business Journal, one of the top 5 golf courses in the entire Rochester area.

The following is a list of equipment purchased, how it will help our golf course and what new maintenance procedures Buz can now follow.

1. Greens
In an effort to smooth and increase greens speed and water absorption Mike has purchased a Rolling Greens Kings IV machine with verticut units. Verticutting the greens will occur every two weeks to remove horizontal growth and thatch. In addition, Buz will continue Primo applications and will begin speed rolling the greens every Wednesday and Friday.

2. Fairways
Fairway playing heights will be maintained at a closer cut through scheduled Primo Applications throughout the summer. This growth regulator will encourage a tighter and shorter fairway (more carpet like). These treatments are costly, but especially effective on our turf which consists primarily of a poa/rye mix. Mike also purchased a Ransomes Fairway Mower which vastly improves our aging fleet of fairway equipment.

3. Roughs
In an effort to improve rough mowing consistency Mike purchased a Progressive Rotary Deck Mower and a Kubota Turf Tractor to operate this mower. Our present units are 30 years old. This newer equipment will provide a cleaner more uniform cut of height and will require much less maintenance. Another important asset of this mower is that it can also serve as a leaf mulcher in the fall.

4. Tees
Our tee areas for the most part are small. To help offset this we will be over seeding and top dressing them on a much more frequent basis.

Respectfully,
